IFSA Cape Town is the first chapter in Africa, located on the very tip of South Africa, Cape Town is an exciting hub that combines the fast paced world of finance with beautiful city living. The Cape Town chapter has specifically been established at University of Cape Town by InvestSoc, South Africa’s largest student executive society with over 1000 members.
As a new chapter there’s enormous growth ahead and phenomenal opportunities for members and partners alike. The chapter’s focus going forward is developing strong international relationships in order for members to gain maximum global exposure and to create a comprehensive local network of skilled and ambitious members that are the future of finance in Africa.
Meet Cape Town’s Chairwoman
My name is Simphiwe Sigaba, Chairwoman of the IFSA Chapter in Cape Town, South Africa. I am in my penultimate year of a Business Science degree with a major in both Finance and Accounting at the University of Cape Town (UCT). I am also the current President of UCT InvestSoc (Investment Society).
We are always looking for new ways to engage with platforms that will help our members achieve their aspirations to be finance leaders of the world. The IFSA network will allow many like-minded young students from different financial and economic power cities all around the world to share the abundance of knowledge that each has to offer.
We live in a globalised era and the IFSA network is a gateway through which all other African cities can gain access to the world of finance through the very people who will drive the future of commerce for generations to come, young students.
Introducing Cape Town’s Vice Chairman
My name is Monedi Lefakane and I am the Vice Chairman of IFSA Cape Town. I am currently studying towards a BSc (Engineering) in Property Studies at the University of Cape Town. I am also currently serving term as the Vice-President of UCT InvestSoc (Investment Society). There are a lot of vital connections between Property Development and the Finance sector hence my interest in IFSA.
Through the collaboration between UCT InvestSoc and IFSA, we aim to create greater opportunities for our members and students throughout Africa, to participate in dialogues and workshops that will provide them with a global outlook and understanding of Finance.
We hope that the IFSA will in time become a useful tool in erasing the division between Africa and the global financial sector through ensuring that the future finance leaders of our continent are provided with a platform that allows them to learn, connect, grow and ultimately advance the continent.
