IFSA Cape Town is the first chapter in Africa, located on the very tip of South Africa, Cape Town is an exciting hub that combines the fast paced world of finance with beautiful city living. The Cape Town chapter has specifically been established at University of Cape Town by InvestSoc, South Africa’s largest student executive society with over 1000 members.
As a new chapter there’s enormous growth ahead and phenomenal opportunities for members and partners alike. The chapter’s focus going forward is developing strong international relationships in order for members to gain maximum global exposure and to create a comprehensive local network of skilled and ambitious members that are the future of finance in Africa.
Meet Cape Town’s Chairwoman
My name is Emma Ho and i am Chairwoman of IFSA Cape Town. I am currently working towards completing a Business Science degree, majoring in Marketing, at the University of Cape Town (UCT). I am the President of UCT InvestSoc (Investment Society), the largest student executive society in South Africa. At InvestSoc, our mission is to bridge the gap between student life and the working world through innovative and focused initiatives aimed at practically educating members, which I believe can be enhanced through our IFSA related endeavours.
As the Chair of IFSA’s only African chapter, my aim is to leverage the opportunities that this global network provides to our students. i hope to provide a platform for engagement between our South African members and like-minded students across the globe. I believe that the IFSA provides students with opportunities to grow their knowledge and personal networks while providing them with the skills necessary to make measurable social impact.

Introducing Cape Town’s Vice Chairman
My name is Monedi Lefakane and I am the Vice Chairman of IFSA Cape Town. I am currently studying towards a BSc (Engineering) in Property Studies at the University of Cape Town. I am also currently serving term as the Vice-President of UCT InvestSoc (Investment Society). There are a lot of vital connections between Property Development and the Finance sector hence my interest in IFSA.
Through the collaboration between UCT InvestSoc and IFSA, we aim to create greater opportunities for our members and students throughout Africa, to participate in dialogues and workshops that will provide them with a global outlook and understanding of Finance.
We hope that the IFSA will in time become a useful tool in erasing the division between Africa and the global financial sector through ensuring that the future finance leaders of our continent are provided with a platform that allows them to learn, connect, grow and ultimately advance the continent.
Project Manager : Fatima Docrat
My name is Fatima Docrat. I have a triple major in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and I am currently doing my postgraduate honours degree in Economics. I am the project manager for IFSA Cape Town for 2017/2018.
This year, I, along with my team, are planning the first IFSA case competition to take place on the African continent. The case revolves around solving a social impact issue, which is alligned with my passion for social justice. I am excited to plan and execute this groundbreaking event, as well as grow IFSA in South Africa. Furthermore, I look forward to connecting with the other IFSA chapters from across the world and helping strengthen the network.
